Niki hails from the mysterious land of Transylvania. Her pen name, borrowed from her great-grandmother's maiden title, wasn't chosen for its historical gravitas; it just sounds a lot cooler than her official one. Plus, let's face it, it's always awkward when your name echoes through the post office, and suddenly you're the star of an unintentional public spectacle.
In her youth, Niki dreamt of becoming a doctor, but physics and chemistry classes swiftly crushed those aspirations. Then, during the turbulent teenage years, she aspired to be a pop star. Alas, her mother, the voice of reason, convinced her otherwise.
Her passion for the theatre traces back to her grandparents, avid playgoers who frequented theatrical performances. In those early days, with no one available for babysitting, they brought her along since children enjoyed free entry. She recalls insisting on having her own ticket, as in her youthful years, she found herself relegated to the side of the room until the commencement of the play, at which point she could claim a vacant seat.
Amidst the chaos of growing up, literature emerged as Niki's constant companion. She started her writing career with not one, but two poems (a puzzling choice, considering she's not exactly a poetry buff). One masterpiece depicted her cherished stuffed animal catching a cold after an unfortunate fall into a lake, a saga that even got a musical adaptation.
Novel-writing began at the tender age of 11, although this literary odyssey took a brief hiatus during university. Majoring in a language, as it turns out, can temporarily suppress creativity. Fear not, though – creativity made a triumphant comeback post-graduation, and Niki has been writing stories ever since.
Niki's university path had a quirky beginning. The revelation struck back in secondary school when her English teacher, with a mix of intuition and maybe a touch of clairvoyance, casually suggested, “You should study English.” Trusting his foresight, she applied to one of the best universities in the country. Fast forward to the triumphant day of graduating as an English teacher.
But Niki wasn't done expanding her horizons. She dove headfirst into uncharted territories, snagging a degree as a Europe expert. As if that weren't adventurous enough, she later braved the wild realms of economics. Yes, you read that right – economics. A bold move for someone who had maintained a lifelong feud with mathematics. Turns out, occasionally stepping out of your comfort zone unveils unexpected talents, even if you've been arch-enemies with maths since forever.
As the living proof that perfectionists are real, it might take Niki a while to wrap up a book. Like, years. Patience is a virtue, right? As one of her friends says, “Slow work takes time”.
These days, she calls Budapest home. When not lost in the realm of words or enlightening young minds, Niki can be found buried in books, binge-watching series, acquiring random skills, and catching up with friends. Because, let's be honest, life is all about balance – between writing chapters, reading them, and sharing the laughter with friends.
